Good question. Can you shadow someone or do some work with a psychology relevant charity or organisation. It’s about showing interest and dedication to the discipline of psychology. I don’t work in admissions but I know we have students with extra experiences like shadowing a clinical psychologist and that can be helpful. Good luck!

      – don’t forget talk about speaking to us here 🙂
      – if you have a specialist area of psychology in mind, don’t be afraid to email someone working in the field. Explain your situation and politely ask for advice or a few questions. Most people will be flattered and happy to reply.
      – Something to show you can handle the statistics is helpful. You could get the trial version of software like SPSS and watch some tutorials on how to use it.
      – you could attend some public BPS events: https://www.bps.org.uk/events

A summer/ voluntary job is always a nice way to gain experience, depending on what you are interesting in. For example you could always volunteer at a local primary school if you were interested in educational psychology.
