      Hello! Well it depends is the short answer. Mostly my work looks at chronic pain which just means pain that is ongoing or at least comes and goes for at least three months. That might be headache, back pain, musculoskeletal pain or stomach pain (e.g. associated with IBS). Or it might be pain associated with conditions like arthritis or specific pain conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (see here – https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/complex-regional-pain-syndrome/)

      Most of my work is completed with young people who experience any type of ongoing pain but I usually work with young people who are very disabled by their pain. By that I mean that it is stopping them doing things they want to do in their life. That might be going to school, seeing friends or going out etc. It might also be making them feel worried or depressed.
