• Question: are you surprised at the standard of schools across England?

      No, I don’t think so. Once you get across time you see the standard is changing, but not a sudden or dramatic way.

      This is different if you look at certain areas. For example, historically many London schools were weak, but there was a real drive to raise standards and now London schools are a lot better.

      Schools like a lot headlines, but often it’s the further education sector which has weaknesses. For example, you could look up the inspection report for your nearest college.
