      Hi Niamh!

The first conference I presented at was for my 4th year undergraduate dissertation (so my first piece of research!). I was very nervous but also excited that I had been given the opportunity to present, and luckily the conference I was at was specifically for undergraduate psychology students, so I didn’t feel as scared.
I did end up enjoying it more than expected, which is why I attended another conference this year and planning many more in the next few years!
What I liked most was hearing about the other students’ research, meeting people like me who had similar (or very different!) interests, and getting feedback on my research. Many conferences also offer workshops which give you a chance to learn something new, and often happen in a different place than where you live, so you get to travel!
It’s a super fun privilege that we as researchers and scientists have so I am very grateful!
