It’s not a ‘company’ – it’s a government department, part of the civil service. The difference is while big department have a politician as their minister, we are led by an appointed expert, known as Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector (HMCI).

Ofsted and the civil service generally is a very supportive employer. The office is comfortable, they get us the special equipment we need (I have a nice chair because I’m very tall), and they care about work-life balance. I like that we are really here to improve the lives of children and adult learners, and make sure all the money the government spends on education is producing good results.

Civil service jobs are advertised here: https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/index.cgi

The civil service also runs a special recruitment every year for graduates (2.2 or better in any subject) to join the ‘fast stream.’ You can google it for details. That includes special routes for statistics or social research.
