• Question: How do interactions through technology (e.g. texting) differ from face-to-face interactions in terms of building meaningful relationships?

      Interactions with technology we tend to miss a lot of the physical cues such as from body language tone of voice. Although emojis can help us had some of these things because they can be interpreted in so many ways it’s still makes It difficult to know the meaning of something. Whereas when you are face-to-face you tend to be able to pick up on these things. Another factor is that lying is a lot easier to do over technology that face-to-face.

    Totally agree with Sarah on all of these fantastic points. There is one other thing I would say in favour of online relationships (which are typically perceived more negatively). So, it can be easier for people to divulge more remotely online than perhaps face to face. That depends on the nature of the relationship of course. But with that comes the issue that Sarah mentiond about lying of course.
